Although it is well known for the all-terrain performance it offers, the Jeep Wrangler also offers very attractive fuel consumption numbers.

Are you looking to buy a new or pre-owned Jeep Wrangler model and would like to know more about its fuel consumption? Your Jeep dealership in Varennes tells you more!

2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler: Fuel Consumption

We have compiled the Wrangler’s energy efficiency for you according to model-year, including for the plug-in trim, the Wrangler 4xe.

From 2020 to 2024, the Jeep Wrangler basically offered the same powertrains; it is perfectly understandable then, that the fuel consumption numbers also remained the same. In fact, you could find one of 4 powertrains under the hood of the Wrangler:

  • A 3.6 L V6 with 285 horsepower
  • A 2.0 L 4- cylinder turbo with 270 horsepower
  • A 3.0 L 6- cylinder EcoDiesel with 260 horsepower [retired in 2023]
  • A 6.4 L HEMI V8 with 470 horsepower [Rubicon 392 only]

Moreover, the 285 horsepower V6 can be coupled with a 6- speed manual transmission or an 8- speed automatic transmission; the latter is the only one offered with the 2.0 L turbo engine and the 6.4 L V8.

Here are the specific city/highway fuel consumption numbers for each of the Jeep Wrangler’s powertrains:

  • A 3.6 L V6 with manual transmission: 13.7/9.6 L/100 km
  • A 3.6 L V6 with automatic transmission: 12.8/10.4 L/100 km
  • 2.0 L 4- cylinder turbo: 10.7/9.8 L/100 km
  • 3.0 L 6- cylinder EcoDiesel: 10.7/8.1 L/100 km
  • A 6.4 L HEMI V8: 13.8/10.1 L/100 km

As you can see, the late diesel powertrain was the one with the best energy efficiency, but given that it was removed from the catalog, the 2.0 L 4- cylinder turbo is now the most fuel-efficient engine, which you can find on the Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon and Rubicon X trims of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler.

Read on below to find out more about the different features each model of the Jeep Wrangler offers, between 2020 and 2024, along with their base price at the time they were released.

2024 Jeep Wrangler

2024 – 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe: Fuel Consumption

Having appeared on the market in 2021, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe offers exceptional fuel efficiency, without sacrificing in any way the all-terrain capabilities for which it is known for. Take note that the Wrangler 4xe is only available in 4- door trims.

Offering power levels that are superior to standard Jeep Wrangler models −except for the Rubicon trim- the Wrangler 4xe will allow you to drive up to 35 kilometers in 100 % electric mode, no matter the model-year.

All 4xe trims hide a 2.0 L 4- cylinder turbo under the hood, coupled with an electric motor, all for a combined 375 horsepower.

Fuel consumption numbers for this powertrain are 11.6 L/100 km in the city and 11.9 L/100 km on highway. However, these numbers don’t take into account the range you will have when in full electric mode, and a comparison between these numbers vs the combined fuel/electricity consumption numbers makes things quite clear: in fact, in this case, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe provides you with consumption numbers as low as 4.8 Le/100 km!

Finally, the Wrangler is eligible for government incentives that total up to several thousands of dollars, depending on model-year.

Takeaway: Hybrid vs Fuel Consumption Numbers
